I stayed here the first night, this is a "golf house" (there is a course on the island). The picture I really wanted to show was the quaint cabin I stayed in the following night but alas my camera's battery ran out. The view from my backyard while on the island. Golf carts are the means of transportation on Daufuskie Island (besides two feet), kind of like Catalina Island here in Los Angeles.
The life... kind of looks like those Corona commercials. This is me with Robin Townsend, she is the founder and coordinator of the Daufuskie Autumn festival. She is a true blue Appalachian lady and one of the best people I have ever met. Efforts like hers in concert with the guidance of Marquetta "Queen Quet" Interacting with the kids during the morning children's hour. Event founder/coordinator Robin Townsend is helping to make sure they don't run away from me!
Here are the kids doing their best to blow balloons for the event; nothing beats free labor. Leaning over to hear the kids' responses, why did they sit so far away?!! A rare moment of me actually doing what I was brought there to do!

Description: This event celebrates the culture of Gullah/Geeche nation (descendants of African slaves indigenous to regions in and surrounding the country of Angola). Participating in this event for the last two years has given me an annual opportunity to remove myself from city life for a few days and hear stories about the good old days. Definitely one of my favorites.
Location: Daufuskie Island, SC
