This has to be the first time I have ever seen a track where someone is ‘featured’ but never does anything! I understand that David Guetta is the producer, but a feature usually involves some sort of vocal contribution, be it rap, sung or spoken. Nevertheless, Kelly’s choreography seemed a little flat and so were the CGI elements. I’m sure this thing will get huge radioplay in Europe though.

So here’s the story on this song…

Last year I was approached by a Japanese singer/songwriter to produce a track for him. Halfway through the song I was having problems with the way he was singing certain parts, so I learned his song as best as I could and re-recorded the vocals. To my surprise, I was fairly convincing singing in Japanese!

It kind of motivated me to see if there were any Japanese artists that I might be able to do remakes of their songs, as I cannot write songs in Japanese. After finding Kyu Sakamoto and his song ‘Miagete Goran,’ I just knew I wanted to make it my own. As a matter of fact here is his classic version which moved me in the first place…

What artistry, and what polish he had vocally. In no way trying to recreate the same style, I chose to produce a more modern pop version of the song. The video below is my interpretation of ‘Miagete Goran.’
